Warning Registry

WLS is a warning registry, not a blacklist. Companies record incidents after they have filed a report. Other participants see this information during a screening and decide for themselves whether it is relevant to the position.

A warning, not a judgment

WLS notes that something was going on. The employer always decides for itself what that means for a position.

Before criminal law

A report is filed after a complaint is made and the employee is terminated. As a result, you often find out much sooner than you would with a certificate of conduct.

By and for the industry

Established by the industry associations themselves. The more companies that participate, the stronger the registry.

The weighting

A match doesn't automatically mean "no"

If an employer finds a record, a decision is never made automatically. The employer considers whether the record is truly relevant to the position for which someone is applying. Only then is a decision made.

The candidate is not listed in the registry and will be evaluated further based on his or her own merits.
Match, but not relevant
The application doesn't match the position, so the candidate is hired.
Relevant and a good fit
The registration goes to the heart of the position. The employer may decide not to hire the candidate.

WLS and the certificate of conduct

Why a certificate of conduct always enough

The two complement each other. A certificate of conduct at a conviction, while WLS looks at police reports and dismissals. The difference lies mainly in the timing, and that timing makes all the difference.

WLS identifies the risk much earlier than a certificate of conduct, and at the exact moment a criminal applies for a job.

A database containing sensitive information requires strict security measures. WLS was built with this in mind from the very beginning, and an independent third party verifies this.

Legality and Safeguards

Carefully structured, legally sound

A registry containing sensitive data requires strict rules. WLS has been structured to meet these requirements from the very beginning, in collaboration with the Dutch Data Protection Authority and industry organizations.

Declaration of Legality

The Dutch Data Protection Authority reviewed the registry and gave the go-ahead for the processing.

Industry Initiative

TLN, ACN, and FENEX established the foundation. It is a nonprofit organization.

GDPR

You will remain within the Netherlands.

Set forth in protocols

The WLS Protocol clearly states in writing who is authorized to record and access what information.

Retention Periods

A registration does not remain on file indefinitely. After the specified period, it is removed from the registry.

Rights of Data Subjects

Every registered individual will be notified and may review their file and file an objection.
